MEMBERS OF PEARL JAM AND MODEST MOUSE TAKE THE STAGE WITH
STUDENTS FROM THE PORTLAND SCHOOL OF ROCK
What young aspiring musician wouldn’t love to perform on stage with members of Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and The Decemberists? For students of the Paul Green School of Rock-Portland, that wish will come true at their “Best of the Northwest” concert on Friday, December 28 at the Wonder Ballroom.
This concert will bring representatives of many of the cutting edge bands who helped the Pacific Northwest influence the sound and attitue of American music. In addition, members of Bikini Kill, Dead Moon, NoMeansNo, MudHoney, Built to Spill and Elliot Smith and The Wipers are also scheduled to perform. In a special segment called “Welcome to the Northwest” artists who have relocated to the region such as, The Shins, Pavement and Spoon will also be on hand.
Students of the School of Rock have racked up a lot of stage time over the past year and their concerts have gained popularity among the youth of Portland. They have performed Pink Floyd’s The Wall, an AC/DC tribute concert, Black Sabbath, The Beatles and Best of the 90s at the Hawthorne Theater.
The Paul Green School of Rock Music is the nation's premier performance-based rock music program, accepting students from ages 7-18. Students receive 45 minute private lessons on the instrument of the their choice and also participate in weekly three hour supervised rehearsals to prepare them for the main event, THE SHOW!
