The Ivorys The Ivorys (Indie Rock, Hip-Hop/R&B, Rock/Pop)
Add to watch list
Chicago: Hog Butcher for the World, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and the Nation’s Freight Handler; Stormy, husky, brawling, City of THE IVORYS Like the Japanese out of the West, The Stooges from Detroit, or NWA straight outta Compton, The Ivorys– born and bread Chicago– have burst forth onto music’s now barren landscape. Fresh as your laundry and dirty as Chamillionaire’s preferred style of transportation, The Ivorys put a new spin on what all real Americans; and all of humanity for that matter; love: rock ‘n’ roll. And this is what makes them so irresistible. The Ivorys proclaimed their existence in the spring of 2003 as freshmen in high school. Brendan Peleo- Lazar (Drums) has known Sam White (Vox/Bass) all of his life and one day the light bulb illuminated, they should form a band! During their freshmen year, Brendan met Rob Thomas (Vox/Guitar) at St. Ignatius College Prep. The three convened in Brendan’s basement (where they still practice to this day) in sunny Lincoln Park, where magic happened. Soon enough, the gigs appeared, the songs were in top form, The Ivorys were well on their way. Instantly recognizable, yet at once unfamiliar, these three teenagers (teenagers, can you believe it?) have managed to orchestrate a sound in constant dialogue with the past present, and future. No easy task. But they wouldn’t want it that way. It took four years of intense basement practice and open-mic initiations to turn Brendan, Rob and Sam into The Ivorys, and there’s no turning back now. Now the band is playing shows at predominate venues such as The House of Blues, The Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, The Note, The Empty Bottle, Hothouse, Lager House (Detroit), and The Beachland Ballroom in Ohio among others. So if you’re looking for wild beats, blaring guitars, catchy lyrics, and songs void of pretension, come see The Ivorys before they bring the revolution elsewhere. You’ve been warned.
